It was a privilege to go along to the Anchor Boys last night to teach them a bit about Easter, and I was impressed by what they already knew!
I briefly read from the bible about Palm Sunday then showed a video clip, with the story told by the donkey which Jesus rode into town! The donkey thought the crowds were cheering him- but ofcourse they were cheering for Jesus, who is King! And although everyone was sad when Jesus died- he came back to life!
I then read from the bible of Mary Magdalenes shock at finding the tomb empty and how an angel appeared and told her not to be afraid- but it must have been a bit scary! We then watched another video clip- imagining that we were there at the time and watching the news on the tv, and the big story of the day being that Jesus was a live again!!
I then headed through to Junior section and look forward t doing an Easter bible class for them next week.
Meanwhile the youth look forward to the fundraising treasure hunt on Sunday afternoon, then watching a DVD afterwards with our feet up, eating popcorn!

SUNDAY NIGHT
Sunday night was a night of great fun and games! As usual we met in the Centenary Hall and chilled out there for awhile. A few of us went to the kitchen to prepare the evenings hot dogs! Meanwhile myself, Gregor and Truffles had an impromptu game of hand ball which was much fun. When everyone else came through a few others joined us. Ryan led us in saying grace in Japanese before we munched our way thorugh our pile of hotdogs. This was followed by another game of handball, until Mulligan got concussion (LOL)
Meanwhile William had a Permanent marker pen and decided to draw a smily face around his and Milky's belly button???? Which yes- was rather bizzare!!
Afterwards we played a few group games together, playin 'Wit ya looking at?!' and fruit basket which is always a favourite. The forfeits for being in the middle during Fruitbasket provided much entertainment, especially Mulligan giving us a wee Scottish jig, and Andrew doing the 'floppy fish'- a form of break dancing which requires great skill and expertise (Don't try this at home!)
We finished the night by moving through to Room 1, where we discussed our plans for the fundraising car wash/ (giant water fight) we are doin for the church to fundraise for the development project.
I finished the night with prayer and a short and sweet but meaningful reading from
Ecclesiastes 11:9- "Be Happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth"

Devotions Sun 6th March 2011- 'Guiding Light'
Where would you get to if you had to get somewhere but didn't have diretctions or a map? Maps are very important when getting from A to B, they are a guide. A song by Muse speaks about someone who lost their guide, they are lost, cold and confused. However in God we always have a guide for our lives and he has promised that he has a plan for our lives, that it is for good for us and not bad and that he hasn't lost the plan, it is 'opened out clear on His desk' and that it's a plan worth waiting to see and experience in 3D :)

Devotions Sunday 27th Feb- 'Perfect'
Started off with a story called 'You're accepted!' about a woman whio knew she was different and felt like because of this that nobody cared about her. Until a teacher during a game said to her 'I wish you were my daughter'. These words changed her life, she knew then that people did care about her. And God says the same thing to us - 'I wish you were my son/ daughter'. It's a reminder that one of the great things about Christianity is it's message of acceptance.
Following on from this,we then looked at a song by Pink called 'Perfect'. It reminded us that no matter what we think of ourselves, God loves us and is always with us. When we feel we have done something wrong, God will always forgive us if we ask and say sorry. A line in the chorus of the song says 'Don't you ever feel like you're less than perfect, you're perfect to me'. This is how God feels about us, He made us and He made us the way we are so He thinks we are perfect. We can't argue with the creator!
God loves us, will forgive us and thinks we are perfect. Amazing stuff!
