Devotions from Sun 20th Feb- 'Sing it out'

In Matthew 28:16-20, God reminds us how important it is that we share his word with others and reminds us that he is always with us.

Listened to the song 'SING' by MCR and looking at its words, used it to form ideas about sharing Gods word.

Firstly God's word is for everyone- it's for our friends, 'the deaf, the blind' and even those that don't like us.

Secondly when we share God's word with others there will be people that may argue with us or get angry and tell us to shut up etc. However, we can have confidence as God has promised that he will always be with us.

Lastly, 'we've got to be what tomorrow needs'. We don't know what may happen tomorrow, but we may be the only person that could speak encouragement or comfort that someone needs and we may be the only people that could take the opportunity to share God's word with someone.

God's Word- Sing it out! Be what tomorrow needs.

Boys Brigade Dark Night

On Friday the 44th Boys Brigade Company had a themed Dark Night - all the games were played in the dark. We also had a special visitor, Bill Stevenson, who is the Boys Brigade Director for Scotland. He spoke of his work to everyone atthe beginning then spent time with each badge class.

Then the lights went off !

The first game was dark X n O's then Murder in the Dark - this was the best game and there were several rounds where upon finding a body in the dark you had to shout in a 'Taggart' style "There's been a murrrderrrrr"

Next was Shoe Pile - a huge pile of everyones shoes and you had to find your own - mental.

The night finished off with football in the dark - by torchlight.

Great fun, good banter and our visitor was most impressed with both the boys and the staff.

More of the same next week.

On monday at drop in the toaster was kept busy and there was hot chocolate as usual which is always good :) There was some music making going on with guitars and drums, which sounded good (but to me was loud but I think it must be cos I must be getting old lol). There was alot of chatting and laughter. We found out that it is almost impossible to beat Andrew at 'connect 4', I think I must have lost about six games in a row. Then just before the end played abit of basketball, I'm usless at getting the ball through the basket but am good at catching the ball. Maybe I will get better at basketball week by week, tho it would probably need a miracle it's not impossible.

well today we had the Wii out and the table tennis and hot chocolate to warm us all up due to the weather outside!. We then went though to the large hall and got some pizza, when it finally arrived, but while we were waiting for that we played 'fruit basket'. Then we had our pizza (yummm)and tuck shop then cleaned up! After that we played hide and seek, although ran out of time,we then finished with a nice talk by chirs and a prayer in the sanctuary.

Today at youth drop in we had cans of juice and toast. We also played with the xbox and with the Table tennis table. Some of us played with the baketball and got very competitive!! Especially Ralph and Harry lol Others chilled out had a little chat about life in general, accompanied by Carwyn and Mulligan playing acoustic guitar. Rosy the dog came to see us. Mulligan got very competitive playing table tennis, and got particularly stressed when one of the primary seven boys who come along beat him!!

Youthie Sunday 6 of February

At youthie tonight we had a chat and played just dance 2, whilst Mulligan and Ryan played table tennis with a sponge ball (haven't got round to getting more table tennis balls after Mulligan stood on the last one!) and that was fun. We moved to the large hall and we played some games which were enjoyed by all, we then had hot dogs and sang happy birthday to Carwyn and gave him a cake while one of our other youths gave him an ice cream for hs cake. The ice cream was provided by Milky, and so was his own brand, Milky Bar ice cream. Which he even put candles in!!! Truffles/Chuckles to the BB's, on seeing the candle decided to put out the fire with a cup of water, accidentally splashing Carwyn in the process! lol We then played bull dogs upon Carwyns request (as it was his birthday) and finished off with a talk and prayer by Andrew, who reminded us all that God is always with us, especially through difficult times when we don't know who turn too. God knows best and loves each of us, and we can turn to him in prayer. He is like a best friend above all best friends who always knows whats best for us and is always ready to listen. Teenage years can be tough, and so Andrews reminder that God is always there was appreciated.

A good night had by all with much banter along the way!

A great service this morning at Mannofield. Pickled Cow did great and their contribution to the service was very much appreciated. Much laughter and a serious message. Without any planning before hand the message behind the sketch tied in perfectly with my talk! and the bible reading, Joshua 1:1-10. Worth a read. An encorougement to be strong and courageous in our faith and in our thinking considering the future of our church. Also the encorougement that God will provide us with al the resources we need.

Myself and Chris provided some brass accompaniment to the hymns, me playing some rather duff trombone lol it's been awhile since I've played!

Well done to all involved, and Joshua 1:1-10 is worth a read as a reminder to be strongand courageous in our faith- although at school or in the work place this is not always easy.

Stay tuned for a post after tonights youth club!

MONDAY YOUTH DROP IN- This Monday was the first of our new set up in the large hall. There was Xbox, Pool, Table Tennis (Until Mulligan stood on the ball lol) and as we're now in the large hall we had a small basketball court setup which proved very popular! A coffee machine is now set up and a range of Lattes etc and hot chocolate served form the kitchen hatch, as well as toast for an after school snack. Caramel Latte proved very popular- once I had worked out how to use the coffee machine!!

A good Drop In, hopefully the new set up will continue to work well and after some advertising will see some new faces along.

We're now looking forward to the all age service on Sunday morning!
SUNDAY NIGHT YOUTHIE- The night started with chill time in the Centenary Hall. There was table tennis on the go and proving very popular- JUST DANCE 2 on the WII! With RASPUTIN proving a favourite dance, there were some interesting moves on the go! Anna had a pink highlighter with her, which Lydia decided to use to draw pink whiskers on everyones face, and so the youth club was re-named 'The Pink Whiskers Club' for the night. We then enjoyed hot dogs and tuck shop followed by a favourite game of hide and seek in the dark, with the basement proving a good hiding place with the other team considering giving up with no sign of anyone. This time no one was forgotten about and left hiding by themselves after we had finished the game!! We then had a chat about fundraising ideas and Chris closed the night with prayers and devotions.

A good night all round.
